These are some computer drawings I did this morning based on some drawings
from my sketch books. I have always been very sceptical of using computers as a drawing
tool but writing my dissertation for collegehas made me quite curious about it.
Ill post some more up later.

I found this book about a week ago in Saltaire while visiting the hockey
gallery. It was hidden at the back of an antique shop. I love the cover
print of one guy throwing another over his head, seems a bit over the
top. After looking inside the entire thing is hillarious - how to unarm
a knife wielding sailor, a gun toting henchman, a crazy boxer and
at the end... Dance moves!!! Fantastic!

Norman Mclaren

Synchromy - by Norman Mclaren 1971
This is a great example of use of rhythm in an animation
Norman Mclaren was a pioneer of experimental animation
and made animations by painting directly on to film, both to
create the image and sound.

This excellent little documentary
explains how Norman Mclaren
could produce his images and
sounds in perfect relation to
one another.

A Spooks Post

Its wet, windy and dark outside. The hour is late and these are
two films perfect to watch at a time like this. Put a chill down
your spine.

Harry smith - Heaven and Earth Magic

There are a few really nice sections in this. Summery

Save me - Stuart Hilton
This is probably the first experimental animation i really felt inspired by. I first
came across the film when i was in my first year at art college and it still inspires
me 8 years later.

This film is by Robert Breer and is a beautiful mix of collage,
rotoscope and drawing. Click the link below to watch on Ubuweb

At college I have a tutor named Joe King and together with Rosie
Pedlow they made this film as part of the Animate Project (sadly no

footage together in a really nice collage. Watch it here -
